Throughout this six-week course young artists will learn the basics of painting, elements of art, and some art history as they learn about different famous painters. Each week will feature a different artist and allow students to experiment with new ways of thinking about art and learn about different cultures around the world.
Projects include:
Cubist portraits inspired by Picasso
Organic shape collages inspired by Matisse
Abstract painting through music inspired by Kandinsky
Expressive Landscape inspired by Van Gogh
Impressionistic Mixed Media Garden inspired by Monet
Artists’ Choice; a final project connecting all the new ideas learned throughout the course.
