In this six-week course artist Lisa Botto Lee will lead you through exploring the relationship between music, movement, and painting. Experiment with gesture, color, texture, and expressive brushwork as you create your own abstract artwork.
Each week enjoy a different musical style while you explore painting techniques and learn about creating abstract images.
Week One: focus on the sounds and movement of the ocean as you experiment with creating your composition using a limited color palette.
Week Two: explore the rhythm of Salsa music as you practice color, texture, and repetition
Week Three: work on understanding line and improvisation through the rhythm and tempo of jazz
Week Four: the cinematic sound of classical music is related to the atmospheric drama of storms as you focus on large movements and capturing constant changes
Week Five: slow down and focus on subtle movements to the soundtrack of Lo-Fi and ambient nature sounds
Week Six: complete your final painting using all the skills learned over the previous five weeks.
