Learn how to draw the human figure in this six-week course taught by artist Lisa Botto Lee. Engage in sketches and longer observational drawings using a live model to help you learn more about form and anatomy.
Each week observe teacher demonstrations, receive one-one-one feedback and support, and gain new drawing experience.
Week One: You will be introduced to the art of figure drawing while learning about the tools you will use throughout the class and the basic shapes that make up the body.
Week Two: Learn the proper proportions and measurements of the figure while examining how body parts connect to each other.
Week Three: Focus on form and line and learn how line is used to describe form
Week Four: Understand value and how it is used to capture volume, depth, and three-dimensional forms.
Week Five: Explore anatomy, examine how muscle, bone, light, and shadow work together to create the figure as you complete observational studies of the model’s limbs, torso, hands, and head.
Week Six: Using all that you’ve learned throughout the class, refine your skills further with studies of the model’s face and completing two long pose figure drawings.
