Museum Adult Art Classes - MUSADULT

In this six-week course artist Lisa Botto Lee will introduce beginner level techniques and skills necessary to render realistic drawings from observation. No experience necessary, come hone your skills!

Each week will focus on learning a new method, culminating in one final project that puts all these skills to work.

Week One: learn the fundamental principles of drawing like proportion, values, line, and more.

Week Two: put the principles you learned in week one to the test as you draw a still life featuring a bird’s nest and eggs.

Week Three: spend some time exploring texture by drawing a still life featuring feathers

Week Four: observe how light behaves and understand how to capture the effects of light on different surfaces

Week Five: work on creating realistic textures and maintaining form by drawing a still life featuring animal fur

Week Six: In the final week of the class bring together all the techniques previously learned while working from a still life with drapery and other objects!

• Graphite pencils
• Strathmore Drawing Pad, Medium Surface, Strathmore 300–500 Series, 9 x 12"
• Twist-Erase 0.9 Pentel Automatic Pencil
• 1 soft fan brush (synthetic)
• 1 shammy
• Kneaded eraser
• Pink Pearl eraser
• Loew-Cornell blending stumps and tortillons
• Sandpaper paddle
• Handheld 4-hole pencil sharpener (plastic long-point — approximately $6.99 on Amazon)
