Museum Adult Art Classes - MUSADULT

This seven-week intermediate wheel throwing class, taught by Ines Delapi, is designed to reinforce the foundational skills learned in Wheel Throwing I. Continue building your wheel throwing knowledge! Push the skills learned in Wheel Throwing I further and learn new, more advanced skills. Don’t forget to take advantage of open studio time, designed to give you plenty of time to practice your skills.

Week One: Learn new pulling techniques as you throw 2-3 cylinder

Week Two: Start planning your personal project and learn to re-center clay after opening along with other techniques

Week Three: Create a wide bowl, learn to use different tools to refine the shape, and get introduced to glazing basics.

Week Four: Learn some more advanced trimming methods, work on pulling handles, and adding texture to your work as you complete your cylinder and bowl projects.

Week Five: Learn how to throw taller forms with even walls and altering shapes with faceting or indentations and begin your third project, a decorative vase.

Week Six: Continue working on your projects from the previous week, use tools to carve and decorate, learn how to underglaze, and learn the sgraffito decorating technique.

Week Seven: Continue working on your projects and learn more glazing techniques
